I need help mommies, I'm a first time mom and Scarlett was a premature, we just learned his to latch 2 days ago, but I also have a supply and demand problem! I was wondering if I could get tips on how to get her to latch easier and more often and things to do to increase supply, I use to pump every 2 hours but still I'd get maybe 4oz a day.
Lots of oatmeal, lots of water. I have a 29 weeker (he's now 4 months old). Keep pumping every 2 1/2 hours, stay extra hydrated and try to not stress!!!! Also, kangaroo holds/ skin to skin is great!! If baby is still in the nicu you can see if you can pump at baby's bedside. As of course latching on during non nutritive sucking if you're still in the nicu. Let me know if you need preemie/mom/nicu advice or need to vent. It's hard momma but in a lot of cases it's possible to breastfeed.
You can eat oatmeal cookies that's what I do for my supply. For her latch a good way to get a good latch is to run your nipple from the tip of her nose to her mouth so she opens wide that promotes a good latch. To get better with it you just have to keep at it.. Try to do it when she starts showing the first signs of hunger like chewing on her hands
