Don't judge me, but I need to rant. I used to use medical Marijuana for a lot of my medical issues including a back fracture, migraines, stomach ulcers, insomnia, etc. When I found out I was pregnant, my doctor said I could use but in moderation because my morning sickness was so bad. I used for a bit but stopped after my sickness went away. Now I'm having back problems again which is causing me to not sleep and have NO appetite. My pregnancy has made my conditions 10x more difficult. I gave in a few weeks ago & bought THC sleeping gummies, it was the best sleep I have gotten, PLUS I ate a FULL meal and actually kept it down. I'm legally allowed to purchase THC while pregnant but if I delivery and it's in the baby's system, I could lose my child?! There is a cure for my problems but I'm not allowed to use it? As I lay here in bed, hungry & tired, I'm just getting more and more frustrated.
@alannafairburn, they'll test you and if you come up positive, they'll test baby. That's my experience with it
They only drug test if they suspect something...that's why I am so glad I live in Santa Cruz! They really aren't that picky. but I stopped just in case.
@countrymommy0916, I have heard of cases like this in Colorado but the lady I spoke too said she had to get an attorney to fight for her. Do all hospitals drug test newborns?
(Depends on state) if the child has Marijuana in its system a case is open but the child isn't taken (Atleast here in Florida) they will check on you and the child (which they call first anyway like idiots) for about three months then case will be closed .
@crunchymomma, Because federally Marijuana is a class 1 substance, I don't think the same rules apply. It's a riciulously fucked up system.
I would talk to someone from CPS and clear up the situation because as far as I know, since you have a "prescription" for it even if they test you for it and you fail, they can't do anything.
like with my 1st daughter CPS showed up in my room and tried to say something to me about me testing positive for different Narcos, but I had been prescribed those by my doctor my whole pregnancy so it wasn't illegal in any way and CPS left me alone.
😒 they will prescribe zofran which has all sorts of possible side effects to baby. But a little medical marijuana and everyone looses their mind. Smh. I feel you. It's a fucked up system. But just try to tough it out mama. Baby will be here and you can have your meds back
that's crazy, and people think it's bad-.- ridiculous I'd wait till your little one gets a little older @alannafairburn
@brinleysmommy, No, they want me to get back surgery after he is born. But how the hell am I going to take care of my newborn after surgery? The only other option is heavy meds, but most of them you can't take while pregnant. I was on 8 meds before medical Marijuana was legal.
@brinleysmommy, My doctor said they still have to test and report it though. I don't want to take the risk of losing my child over back pain but fuck it is annoying.
@alannafairburn, you sign a paper to be drug tested and have your child drug tested so you can refuse it
