I think it's girly, but it works as a boys name definitely. I only say I think it's girly because I know more girls names that, then again it's usually spelled Averie. So I think it definitely works.

I know a boy and a girl named Avery. I think it only sounds girly when paired with a girly middle name. if you give him a strong manly middle name he will be perfectly fine. if you like the name don't listen to others (:
