I do to an extent. If the situation can be handled with out a spanking then that's how I handle it. I only spank when she's done something she's been told not to multiple times over.
I feel like spanking should be a last resort, I was spanked as a child but only a handful of times and I can still tell you what I did. I also think age is an important factor to think about. it's very similar to timeout that it has been proven ineffective for young children because they are more mad or upset that you did it and they don't remember what they did, therefore they don't get out of it what you were hoping for, if that makes sense. I teach toddlers and we focus a lot on positive discipline which basically means rather than telling them no or stop, give them an option that is appropriate for example, instead of saying no don't touch that, say that's for mommy's hands or that's not safe for your hands. or walk instead of don't run. this way, they are learning it's not okay, but also what is okay to do instead.. it's not for everyone because it's a newer way to discipline but I recommend at least trying it, being positive is always a good thing 😊

I'm a psych major so I know from more of a statistical view that positive punishment is more successful than negative punishment. And if negative punishment is to work then you definitely have to do it immediately after the bad behavior. You can't wait for the father to come home or something because it wouldn't be effective. It honestly depends on the person and the way they want to raise a child. Also, depends on the personality of the person raising the child.
I do. my daughter's gonna know when she's doing something wrong and what the consequences are. But I'm not gonna spank her for stupid things like not picking up her toys when asked that's a no toys for a while deal. But if she gets an attitude or gets disrespectful I will spank her little butt .

Yes I do! However I think there is a fine line between spanking and abuse... Whenever you spank in anger that's abuse.

my 2 year gets the most spankings.. but i have to whoop my 8 year old... I want them to grow up being respectful.
