My SO just called to tell me he's been watching birthing videos for the last few hours...his children from his previous relationship we're both c-sections. He told me that even though he knows I had my second child natural with no epidural, that this time he wants me to get one because he doesn't think he could mentally handle me being in that much pain and can't do anything about it. He went on to ask me "so wth am I supposed to do while your vagina in possibly being ripped to shreds and you can feel all of it? Just smile like your screaming out of joy and not excruciating pain? No I'd like for you to get an epidural so we both can fully focus on the moment". I thought that was sweet even though I'm still thinking about doing all natural again lol.

I didn't feel any pain until 7cm and I gave in and asked for the epidural at 9cm, I was shocked they even gave it to me honestly. I went in because my water was leaking and was in active labor for maybe 6hrs but I couldn't feel anything so I doubt I was pushing 90% of that time lol what helped you the most? I really want to do all natural this time
I know but he just hates to see in any kind if pain lol. He's always been like that with me. But I'm gonna tell him about that as well @dflowers

If you can handle a natural birth then he can suck it up and handle his side of it. Epidurals have side effects and sometimes stall labor. He can look up ways to help relieve your pain instead. Foregoing the epidural makes for a fester recovery and avoids getting a catheter
Look Ito hypnobirthing and hypnobabies, there will be no screaming in pain :-)
Mine didn't last that long. my water broken at 6am on January 25, 2012 (exactly 1 month early). My ob called me at around 7:30. I didn't feel anything until about an hour after arriving at l&d because they forgot to check my cervix lol. I was fine until she had told me I was 7cm and in had been having contractions 2 to 3 minutes apart for about an hour. that's when I felt it finally lmao. They finally took me to a room and couldn't give me an epidural because in was fully dilated and they could see her head. I pushed for about 5 minutes and could only think about how y stomach was cramping and I should've tried to shave my legs and down the night before. I know silly but true smh. And by 9:15 my daughter was born after about 45 minutes of pain
If you can handle not getting an epidural, don't lol I wish I wouldn't of, it was horrible. I mean not feeling anything was nice, but I literally couldn't feel ANYTHING for a long time and I pushed for two hours -_-
Nothing really helped, I'm just being honest. I never planned on having a natural birth and o had it stuck in my mind that I was gonna get an epidural when I got to the delivery room lol. I couldn't get one because I was fully dilated and her head was already coming out. Honestly the only thing that helped was telling myself to keep pushing because the longer it took to push her out the longer and be in pain and to make matters worse, the longer 4 people, including my mom would be looking at me and hadn't done an ounce of shaving in like 2 months. lmao that really bothered me @kmunoz but you just have to keep pushing no matter how it feels. And once the head and shoulders are out you can't feel much else so that was my main focus as well.
