so when I went to the hospital, they told me I need to go to my doctors and ask for my prenatal records... so I went to my doctors today and they told me I need to pay $25 for my records, they can't just give them to me... I don't have the income to do that... I'm soo mad, can they do that? what do I do?

I don't understand why they're charging you, my nurse gave me my records on Tuesday & I'm only 29 weeks so I don't get why they won't give you yours.
I know I was charged for my filing for paperwork for my maternity leave. I don't understand why they would charge you to release your medical records to the hospital though. I would definitely call and complain to your insurance. I did go into the closest hospital recently because I wasn't feeling as much movement. They asked if I wanted to deliever there. If I did to let them know so they can request by records from my Dr. office. Maybe the hospital has to request them. Either way it goes it sounds like u have a bad Dr. and the they need to be reported.
What that's all crazy cal your insurance ASAP and file a complaint about the whole situation even the cervix check at 28 weeks and ask them for advise try to call now bc I'm sure they close around 5 or 6
See the problem is I'm due in 8 days and my doctors on vacation right now and the clinic I went to, won't just give them to me and the hospital is confused as to why my doctor just said he was done seeing me and to just go to the nearest hospital.. I guess he's not doing his job... be also checked my cervix at 28 weeks and I just found out, he wasn't suppose to do that... I'm just so confused and irritated.. Idk what to do..
I'm guessing it's standard to have your records before birth because a few weeks ago my doctor handed me mine incase I went into labor. They shouldn't charge you bc like i said it's not something you personally need it's a request from your hospital . I would call the labor and delivery and explain to them your situation and then speak to your head nurse or doctor
@babybermea, yeah and they said to go have the hospital call them.. they hospital is pretty far and I don't have a car atm, my friend couldn't take me, do I can the hospital and tell them to call the doctor.. or? I don't understand why this all has to be so complicating...
Did you tel them the hospital wants it and you don't want it for your personal records . They should send it over on there own then .
you tell your hospital that you can't afford them and they will call over and get them.
@cast_16, me either.. it seems like a bunch of bull shit.. but my boyfriend just said he's gonna pay for it in the morning, but he's also going to file a complaint.. for this and the cervix check my doctor did on me at 28 weeks... so hopefully somebody fires him..
