I'm due in March and I plan on breastfeeding. Does anyone have any tips or advice? This is my first baby.
Also when you first start nursing your nipples hurt really bad use some ice packs and nipple cream they have to get used to it but it does go away. Dont give up just be patient its a learning experience for both you and the baby. I am going on two months the first 6 weeks I had to use a shield due to him not wanting to open his mouth and latch correctly causing cracked nipples.
Don't listen to what everyone tells you! I'm still breastfeeding and we're almost 4 months in! Pump at night once your baby starts sleeping longer stretches. Drink Gatorade like your life depends on it! Take your prenatals until you stop breastfeeding! I was fortunate to have a very cooperative baby and she latched on, no issues, and none so far!!! Good luck mama!! Holler if you need anything!
Definitely use nipple cream! The hospital should give you some, if not it's not expensive. I recommend using it from the very first time even if they don't hurt yet they will lol. It was a life saver for me! Drink water water water! It's so important for a good supply to stay hydrated. I had some supply issues and it turned around fast once I really focused on my water and food intake. I also take fenugreek pills which work wonders! And It creates such an amazing bond between you and your LO😍
