So I'm trying to train my boyfriends dog not to jump on the bed/ furniture and when I'm around he won't. But everyone else encourages him to do so when I'm not there. But I I am they then act like they don't. I'm only doing so so that when baby comes it's not all of a sudden he's not aloud to be just jumping up just so he don't jump on the baby or something. I may just sound crazy but I worry about that kind of stuff. He has his own bed and loves it most the time now he won't even go to our bed he lays on his it's mostly everyone telling him it's okay to get on the furniture. Anyone have any ideas?! I've true expressing my concerns and they just say when the baby comes then we won't let him. I don't wan. Him to be jealous of the baby which is why start now. He's like my fur baby. Lol

I just don't want him to be lives that all of a sudden he's not allowed on there. They act like I'm crazy but I don't want the dog to feel like oh there is this new person and now I'm not allowed to do what I have been.

That's how mine is too. But he's so good with it when I'm around just when I'm not they let him so I told him and his mom don't be surprised when I don't leave the baby alone with u if u can't respect my wishes now how do they think I'm gonna feel leaving the baby there when I'm not

Stand your ground! You are right that if you wait to change your dog's behavior until the baby gets her, he might get confused and jealous of the baby. People need to respect what you're trying to do!

I'm not so concerned with mine being on the furniture, I'm more concerned about he gets so excited around new people and new things that he sticks his nose right in people's faces or whatever you're holding. I'm trying to gently train him not to do that but everyone else, my mom in particular, get so frustrated instantly and yells at him

Get him a bed for the living room and the bed room so he can still sleep in there with you if that'd what he is used to. also get a spray bottle. it works to keep the off the furniture. that's what we had to do.
