mommies with/had teething babies,how do you breastfeed? do they bite? how do you cope?

I heard that when baby bites you just take them off the boob tell them no and let them latch again but if they do it again you take them off for a few minutes and tell them no biting and eventually they'll stop doing it

Exactly what was already said. Pull them off (push in the corner of their mouth if they are really chomping) and tell them no. If they keep doing it, end the session and try again later. It WILL get better, although it sucks! My son drew blood once and I had to put him in his crib and walk away because I was so mad.

I'm scared.. My son gave me blisters within our first five days on one nipple and he would chomp and this was all from a newborn. Not looking forward to him teething. We can already see where his teeth are under his gums😵

@lreetz, i would get mad too.he better hope he do it after getting enough and not in the middle or beginning.

If a newborn is chomping, it's a sign of lip or tongue tie. My three month old is still biting down and she is getting her tongue and lip clipped for better nursing. It can also cause speech problems if left uncorrected.

@lreetz, pediatrics and lactation consultants have checked him and didn't say anything . I think we just had a poor latch and he would would get impatient and I was new to it all..he doesn't chomp anymore unless we're having a hard time getting latched. He's a bit of a drama king already..

Yeah I hear you @myliltadpole1116. Lactation consultants and pediatricians all said she was fine. Then I took her to a pediatric plastic surgeon and it took her all of two seconds to show me. My daughter is a drama queen too- she gags if I show her a bottle!
