Anyone else's mums gone a bit crazy during your pregnancy? Mine has bought loads of very expensive designer newborn/0-3 month dresses and shoes (mostly ted baker, i think they're really ugly😬). She's spent about £300 on not a lot. She refuses to give them to me too, not that she'll really be wearing them. They're 'for when baby is with her'. Which won't be as often as she thinks. I've become quite agitated by this because I don't have a lot of money and that £300 could have gone on stuff she really needs and not silly designer stuff she'll never wear/wear once. I get its her money and she can get what she wants but it's not very helpful. She's also told me she'd get stuff for my hospital bag (which means I've not bought them) but she won't give them to me either. She has packed a spare bag for her house 'just incase'. This includes stuff like maternity pads/pants, brand new nightwear, ready made formula, nappies, even bupanthen that she screeched at me for when I tried to bring home. She has even packed her own overnight bag for her and her boyfriend (not my dad and not been together for long so quite weird). I understand she is excited but has become scarily possessive over my daughter and she's not even here yet. She came to my last MW appointment as I needed a lift and she was so pushy with her. I could tell my MW was getting uncomfortable. Was asking stuff like 'do you think she'll be early, can you get her induced?' saying she was measuring me wrong and demanding she do my blood pressure again even though it was fine and stuff like that. We didn't have a great relationship before I fell pregnant and I know she wouldn't be the slightest bit interested in me if I wasn't so it all feels a bit use-y. She knows that she won't be allowed to the birth but keeps pushing for her and her boyfriend to be there. She's even tried to get me to sign something that dictates she would get the baby if anything would happen to me and not my boyfriend.

I'm avoiding her at the minute because she demanded I buy her boyfriend a card and a gift for his birthday even though she knows I struggle with money and I've only met him twice! My own dad's lucky if I manage to get him something😂 I would like to have a good relationship with her but fear she might be a bit unstable and could be one of those crazy grandparents that kidnaps the baby or something! Especially after trying to get me to sign papers for custody in event of death/serious illness Xx

Oh god that's horrible!! Iv signed papers to say my mum gets the baby if anythn happens to me but only cos the dad of the baby isn't involved ! Xx

Gosh, stressful, but if you tell the hospital you don't want her there the staff won't let her in! And I completely understand why you wouldn't want her boyfriend there, especially if you've only met him twice! xXx

This sounds very over the top and over involved. Have you told her how you feel?
