When did you moms that went back to work or are going back to work , show baby a bottle ? My baby has been EBF for almost 5 weeks now and I'm scared he won't take a bottle when I need to start working . And did you have any problems ?

It depends on how long your maternity leave is or when you're looking at trying to find a job. they say no bottles or pacis the first 4-6 weeks so you're in the right time frame to be safe to introduce it. It may also take trying a few different ones to find one he'll take/do well with. I would say pump an hour or so before a feeding if you're on any kind of schedule, and like someone else said have someone else feed without you in the room. have 2 or 3 different types of bottles available to try in case though...like we had Lansinoh, Nuk, and MAM bottles for our 5.5 weeker to try and she did best with the MAM anti-colic bottles so that's what we use but we went through the other 2 types before we found that she does well with the MAM bottles. But just have pumped milk ready, be in another room, known he will probably fuss some the first few tries, be consistent about trying, and have someone that's willing to help you with getting him to do both bottle and breast

if you need a pump, insurance should cover one (I would try for a Spectra S1 or S2 if they'll cover it as they're hospital grade without the price of an actual hospitam grade pump otherwise a Medela Pump In Style/Pump In Style Advanced is best for pumping), but I agree...don't do formula just to practice with the bottle because their tummies can become adjusted to the thickness of formula and the breastmilk will come back up due to being too thin (happened with my 2 year old when I had to supplement) plus giving formula can mess with your supply as that's less milk your body thinks it needs to make

@ilovebabyjosiah, I agree with @breastmilkmama have someone other than you give him a bottle containing your pumped breast milk a few times a week to get used to it. My son had no problem, I stayed out of the room the first few times my husband gave him a bottle, also I made sure to use a slow flow nipple.

I would not give baby formula just to practice with the bottle.. try letting daddy give pumped milk in a bottle at the same time every night. You will probably have to leave the room for your baby to take it!

Try breastfeeding your baby and after your done give your baby some formula and he or she will start getting use to it
