what about mothers who have special needs children? whether it be developmental disorders, autism, food allergies, genetic disorders etc? They're supposed to just trust a stranger with their child on a regular basis and work just to be able to pay someone else who may be uneducated about the challenges/ailments that the child faces on a daily basis?! We haven't been on assistance long, we both had really good jobs when I got pregnant. I quit mine and we moved closer to his, then this war in coal business happened and he got laid off... they yo-yo'd him for a while and then let him go completely. He now works in a factory making less than half of what he was and driving 3x as far. Our vehicle was totaled 10 days before Christmas by some 16 year old who was driving Grandma's car and not paying attention and he hit my Fiancée, when he ran a red light and spun him around in the intersection. I agree that no one should be raising their child on welfare for 18 years but both of us have paid taxes since we were 16 & 18. we're now 25 and 27 and need the help. I believe that's why it is there. the only formula my son can have is also not covered by WIC and he can't have commercial baby food either. So, it takes $200+ a month to feed him.
I think this is not a bad idea for the women out there who keep having babies for a bigger welfare check. They are the ones raising criminals and living off the government. I think being a stay at home mom is the best choice, but you need to be able to support yourself. If you are on government assistance, get your life together before you bring another person into this world

I hope that's going to be the same for single men on drugs that have no children! That get food stamps and assistance.
