Has anyone been on antidepressants while pregnant? My mental health midwife said it's fine to be on them but my doctor is saying they can cause heart problems for the baby. I stopped taking them when i found out i was pregnant but I'm struggling without them and I will be more prone to postnatal depression if i don't go back on them. Help!

Starting TWW. Anyone else? I had a stillborn daughter at 38 weeks this passed Nov. This is my second month ttc. (Last month we only tried for like two weeks though). My last and only pregnancy, I got pregnant the first month of ttc so I hope it's quick this time again.

I got some antidepressants at about 12 weeks pregnant and my doctor said they're totally fine, if you feel you need them I'd recommend taking them xx

I have been prescribed fluoxetine for antenatal depression and my midwife said there are risks that are very rare but it's better to take the medicine as there are more risks from being depressed in pregnancy for the baby x

I was on them before I fell pregnant I was told not to take them but got told to take different tablets that you could find in a supermarket I can't remember what they are cold but speak to your doctor about what he recommends as a substitute xx

I was on them before I fell pregnant and then I came off them. but I was slowly taking my self off them. but there is one that you can be on while pregnant. theres one that you can't because it's to strong called fluoxtine x

@abiruth, they offered me therapy as an alternative but it's never seemed to work in the past.

@vic22, yeah fluoxetine is the one i was on and the one the one my midwife wants me to go back on to. She said its safe after first trimester but I just don't want to take the risk.

I was put on antidepressants a couple months before I got pregnant and was told that it would be more beneficial to stay on them throughout the pregnancy just in case I started struggling to cope.
I'm on quite a low dose though and was told that the tablets I'm on haven't been known to cause any probs for babies.
I'm on setraline by the way.
I was also told that after baby is born he would have to be checked for withdrawals but it seems very unlikely because I've been on quite a low dose throughout the pregnancy Xx
