I'm curious.... How many moms had to supplement?? I'm worried that with having a c section that my milk won't come in right away
@loveinharmony, I had a similar experience. In the hospital i would nurse for hours and she would still be cranky because she wasnt filling her stomach. So i had to supplement some formula so that we could get some sleep! I feel very bad about it but my husband and i were so exhausted. But we only supplemented once and then my milk finally came in.
I had a c section with my daughter & after she was born, all I had was colostrum. my daughter was getting frustrated because she wasn't getting milk & she lost 11% of her body weight. My dr was talking about supplementing formula which I did NOT want to do. the nurses had me pumping & eventually on the last day, my milk came in. I went from only pumping an oz at the hospital to pumping a total of 6 to 8 oz at home. I had to supplement for one day because since I hadn't been latching my daughter correctly, my nipples became so sore & badly cracked I couldn't nurse her without being in excruciating pain so I had a day of rest & pampering, my fiance helped me relearn how to latch & it got better. If your milk doesn't come in right away, try pumping for at least a day or two ...if your baby can't get your milk to let down, a pump may help
I had a c section and I produced enough. It depends on your body. Most women will produce enough milk you just have to keep at it. Make sure you breast feed right after birth or short after, no bottles or pacis.. You have to be really dedicated to it
I had a c section and my milk didn't come in until day 5 post partum never had to supplement just fed baby on demand which was every 1 1/2 to 2 hours! The first couple days are rough with constant feeding but after your milk comes in it'll slow down!
I also had a natural birth, & wanted to breastfeed but unfortunately I wasn't producing enough.. Had to supplement.. I wish I could have breastfeed
