oh wow!! they haven't sent you to a neurologists to do a sleep test on him? they did that with my oldest and everything came back fine. I think she had a total of 3 or 4 from age 2-3 and my son had around 4 from 1-2. my daughter turned 5 in December and my son will be 4 in February. he will grow out it.
how old is he and how many has he had already? both of mine had it and they finally grew out of it. 5&3..I was also told that it's runs on someone sides of the family...in that case it was my ex's side cause he had.

he is a year and 2 months had about 5 already...since my husband and i had them as well he has them to but im really hoping he outgrows them soon
