my fiance is crazy if he thinks that I should allow his family in right after I give birth and allow them to hold and what not.. I want time with the baby while I'm in that euphoria state and then they are more then welcome to come in after I'm exhausted..

Told everyone in my family not to come to the hospital with my last 2 births its way too overwhelming and I'm so exhausted I just throw a little welcome home party for my close family everyone brings over a food dish
@melissah, I know in this bible belt of Texas they don't believe in midwives and a large majority of the pediatricians won't take a baby born to midwife
@melissah, my obgyn is pretty naturlistic.. he dosnt prescribe many medications until you have tried more natural alternatives first.. he even suggested I go to the hospital in town that has a newborn nursery instead of the one I work at because it would be easiest for me.. but I work at the other hospital (only 2 in the area) and if anything happens I trust them more
get a midwife, an obgyn that has knowledge about that stuff is more rare. well, it's best for baby so it shouldn't be too tough once he sees all the facts! I'm glad I don't have to deal with this, we aren't even telling anyone I'm giving birth until after he is born and we are ready for visitors.
not that my fiance will listen to him just because he is a doctor haha
@melissah, haha he is bull headed.. I've tried that I've even pulled books out too! im.going to see if I can get my doctor on my side and have him say that that's what need to happen haha
it's up to you, just remember that. 😊 just find some articles about the importance of that hour and show him!
Understandable, at first it was an argument with my fiance and I with what I wanted but it's her child too and she's excited and everyone is excited so we made little compromises but in all reality I just want it to be me and her for hour's until I'm ready but I got tired of arguing. Lol I hate arguing and making her feel like less then a parent. I give in too easily.
@melissah, that's what I've tried to tell my fiance especially since I want to breast feed!!! and it's my first child.. I want to have my time of euphoria (about the first hour)
and they are done assessing the baby and what not
@jessiethelesbiann, I told him I don't what them to even know I'm in labor thankfully they all work except his mother who could take off for it but the rest live paycheck to paycheck so I won't have them hanging out the whole time. I have no intentions on having anyone there until my care is finished for sure
after one hour, that's optimum bonding time, skin on skin contact between you two shouldn't be broken for an hour.
My fiance wants her family to come in after baby is born since they will be there in the waiting room the whole time and I was saying no the whole time but I made a sacrifice for her, she's so excited and they are only allowed to stay for a certain time Lol. I will be counting down every single minute haha.
I'm in the midwest, also bible belt, minnesota. same here, imagine planning a home birth. 😧
