My uncle called my grandma today and was talking for a while then he told her "hey mom tell summer if she goes tithe welfare office and signs up she can get cash assistance. Shawns (my cousin) girlfriend went to try and get on it and they said no because she wasn't pregnant, an it'll help with money and bills and stuff for the baby." Ever since then my grandma has been on my case about going to sign up. I'm 18 years old, I don't have my GED or diploma but I'm working on getting my GED, I don't have a job and my boyfriend is having no luck at all with finding a job. I talked to my dad about it months ago just to see what he would say and he said "no I'll pay for everything for that baby before you get on cash assistance." I talked to my boyfriend and he thinks it a good idea because it'll Definately help with money until he can get a job. I don't know what to do and I'm scared if I do go and sign up but they deny it then my grandma will be mad but if I don't go then she will be mad. Can I have your girls opinions.? No bashing yet again.!

they wouldn't know if you sign up unless you tell them right? I would just sign up and see if you can get it then go from there. everyone needs a little bit of help sometimes being on government assistance doesn't make you a bad person in any way

I would do it. Any help you can get is good. Me and my husband both have jobs, but all of our bills take most of our money. We make too much for food stamps or stuff like that. But we could actually really use them. We end up only having about $100 for food a month. And when you think about it, it doesn't really buy much. They said I could get wic though for the baby. Just remember every little bit helps.

@rainbowbaby2015, I just know how hard it is, I got on food stamps and I live in a small town where if certain people see them used I'm officially a scum bag who is using their tax money, when in all reality I'm just trying to get on my feet! if my family could help they would but you gotta do what yo gotta do lol

It would definitely help you out and they can help your bf find work and help with your GED situation they have so many resources and food stamps should help you out as well

It helps Bt they will sue your baby's father for child support, so it's something to think about n if he's not over 18 they'll make his mom pay && if he is they'll probably only make him 50 a month && if he doesn't they'll try to put him in jail
