Hi all! Question. So I am 31 weeks and I plan on breastfeeding this time around. I am a little overwhelmed with reading all these articles, blogs, and comments from other moms. My main concern is that she won't take a bottle once she latches on the nipple. I'm only going to be on maternity leave for a short period of time then she will be going to daycare unfortunately so what is if she doesn't take the bottle ?! What do you do at that point?! 😒
I introduced bottle at 2 weeks because all my coworkers had that problem and had to delay their work retun to get baby on bottle. I was able to get my baby at 2 weeks to switch from bottle to breast with absolutely NO resistance or nipple confusion. I started with a 4 oz Dr Brown bottle she still 61st 8 months goes bottle to breast with no problem and I thought being bottle fed all day would make her eventually reject my breast but nope and she gets 6-7 oz bottles plus a little food when I'm at work but on weekend's it's breast all day maybe one bottle and some baby food and she doesn't complain like she's hungry or anything. every baby different you just have to try and be consistent
Mine started the occasional bottle at 4 weeks. we like the medela and the Munchkin latch brands. we've not had any problems with nipple confusion either. good luck!
I introduced my son to a bottle at 4 weeks or so and I never had a problem with nipple confusion. I also used the Avent natural wide mouth bottles (I think that's what they are called.) good luck.
I don't think nipple confusion is really a big deal or a "thing", I think I some babies just get lazy or used to a bottle nipple because it comes out at a different speed as a real nipple and they have to work less to take a bottle. I wouldn't worry about it until you run into the problem, if you even do. I have a preemie- some say it's harder to nurse preemie's but I'm able to nurse and bottle feed him without any issues. Each kid is different. Worry about it if you get to that point. =]
