How long does it take for someone to stop being anemic? I've started taking iron pills 2x a day and…

I thought it was a life long thing but idk what it means when it shows up in pregnancy

Me too, I started 2 weeks ago still exhausted

When you take your iron pills do they make you sick? Cause I'm suppose to take them x2 a day as well but I get really sick after I take them. I'm not sure why tho

@bellahali, it depends hun. I've been anemic all my life and Im suppose to take iron pills rest of life. But I take it off and on (as a nurse in don't practice what I preach) but since pregnancy I take it twice a day regularly cause the baby will cause my levels to be reduced even more.

@bellahali, My dr told me I'm anemic today and to start taking supplements to help. He said it could continue for the duration of my pregnancy even with supplements but they'd continue to monitor it each month.

@beautifuldisaster, My dr made some recommendations on iron for me today and said to try the liquid form first because it's less likely to make me sick or cause constipation. He also recommended buying iron gluconate and not iron sulfate if I went with a pill form. Not sure what you're taking but thought I'd pass the info

@beautifuldisaster, I take them in the middle of having lunch and dinner. It is easier when you take it with food.

@rebcamdot, I'm taking iron sulfate right now and it's been okay on me. Haven't gotten sick or constipated yet! But thank you for the tips, will do!
