what could happen if I picked up more than 20 lbs?
I apologize @candice_leann I didn't mean to contribute to an argument on your post. my comment was just a list of possible things, not things guaranteed to happen. those are just the reasons why lifting isn't recommended for us. my close friend is pregnant and due 3 days after me with her 2nd child, and she recently had some scary bleeding that took days to stop. the doctor told her it was because she was lifting things too much and she bruised her placenta, now she is on light duty at work and can't pick up her 4 year old. again, I just try not to advise people to push the limits, because that is for doctors to do, not untrained people like myself. that's my reasoning, and again I'm sorry for any drama.
I would ask your doctor before doing so, throughout my entire pregnancy I was able to work, I work as a cna/cma a 2nd have to lift people twice my size severely me a day, my co-workers were wonderful they did not allow me to over strain my muscles. I had to clear it with my doctor before I was able to lift heavy objects. there still always be risk but if you use proper body mechanics you and your baby will be fine
yes as in picking something heavy up @maybebabygirl
I'm glad me taking care of my baby is funny to you :-) @rhia and btw I think this is about lifting weight, not how much weight you gain. as in picking up something heavy. is that right @candice_leann ?
Why is it wrong to answer a question, those are the potential risks. it's better to err on the side of caution when it comes to a baby until your doctor tells you that something is safe. and everyone is different, so sometime physical activity that was safe for you may not be safe for another person. and me being a first time mom has nothing to do with anything, just because you take possible risks doesn't mean others have to, calm down geeze. you don't need to be rude.
@rhia, no offense but that kind of advise is only safe coming from a doctor.
thanks @beauty_plusthebaby and @maybebabygirl
premature labor, hernia, bruised placenta, and I'm sure there are more risks. it's just not a very good idea, but if you absolutely have to, Google some lifting techniques to make sure you don't pull a muscle or anything.
several things actually considering that ur not too far along the umbilical chord can wrap around the baby. u can put too much pressure on the sack and it. ud cause the liquid to go down.
it's fine I'm glad you listed stuff. any kind of info helps @maybebabygirl
