Is it true that babies are developmentally ready for solid food between 4-6 months?? and what's your opinions on introducing foods to your babies and what age did you start? I'm just curious, my little one is 7 weeks but I'd like to know for when the time comes. I read on google its 4-6 months but I didn't think anything before six months was good.

I stated my daughter with rice cereal a week before she turned 4 months but I did it because if I was eating she would chew too so of u want to start at 4 months I recommend it my baby loves her food now

I've read that most studies show solids prior to 6 months increase the odds of childhood obesity.

@danamarie, my daughter has not gained weight since she's been eating solids

yea my daughters perfectly healthy so I could @mommmyof1 but because obesity runs in my family on my moms side I'll probably continue to breastfeed for up to a year as well as giving her those Gerber fruits and veggies occasionally, thats what my mom did with us @danamarie

My baby was tiny and maybe if u want to wait then wait it just helps my baby sleep better I hope you make the choice that makes you happy

It only increased the odds @mommmyof1 but isn't guaranteed. It does have a lot to do with what solids, how much, genetics, etc @supermom1104 . So it's up to you to decide what to do! I'm waiting for 6 months just to play it safe, but I know not everyone has the option.

@danamarie, yea that sounds like a good idea but I know some ppl HAVE to do it for their younger babies because it helps their digestive system. I want to do what's best for my baby

Some I know tried earlier for digestive problems, but generally peds don't think babies' gi tracts are developed enough til around 6 months.

that's what I thought and that's also what my mom had told us as kids and basically what we grew up knowing @mommagotbump1

Lots of moms start at 4 months but from personal experience it caused adam to have lots of tummy aches and all he would do is cry. I feel like they're not quite ready for it so soon. Adam starts at 6 months. Every baby handles it differently. If you notice your baby not handling it well, you can start off later with tiny amounts. I feel like there's no rush. They will eventually eat anyways. Some moms just get excited
