From the moment I peed upon that stick,

And I saw that faint blue line.

Through the mixture of emotions,

I knew that you were mine.

Scared, excited, nervous,

Are the feelings that stood out.

But I'd love, protect and care for you,

Of that there was no doubt.

And as you grew inside me,

That bond I felt did grow.

Would you be a boy or girl?

I knew I'd have to know!

Family, friends and colleagues.

They've all had their guesses,

Will you be wearing trousers??

Or will you be wearing dresses???

Will it be toy cars that we buy?

And clothes all coloured blue?

Or will it be dolls and fairies?

And only pink will do?

It doesn't really matter,

If you are a girl or boy.

As the moment you are in our lives,

You'll bring us so much joy.

Already you have changed me,

More than I ever thought you could.

I cannot wait for this journey,

The one called motherhood.

And even if in the first few weeks,

You made me want to hurl,

I cannot wait to meet you,

My precious little girl!!
