So I'm getting super mixed opinions online, professional and not, about drinking while breastfeeding. Some websites say that a glass or two of wine is perfectly fine, while others say that no matter what you should pump and dump. So what do you ladies think? Do you always have to pump and dump.. Even if it is just one glass of wine?

You can have a glass of wine. The rule is, "if you're sober enough to drive, then you're sober enough to breastfeed." Alcohol leaves your system so say you do get drunk, once you're sober again and feeling level headed, then you can breastfeed. You do NOT have to pump and dump! The alcohol leaves your milk once your sober. I'm not a professional but honestly trust me, because I'm super OCD about anything harming my kids and I've done very extensive research on this subject. I myself can have two drinks (beer or wine) and still be able to breastfeed. After two I will give my daughter a bottle. I only pump if my boobs are feeling really really engorged, and I would obviously dump that milk because it contains alcohol. But if you aren't feeling engorged then there's no reason to pump and dump! Feel free to ask me any other questions you may have! So yes you can have a glass of wine and still nurse your baby (if you're sober)! Enjoy that wine ;)

If you can drive you are fine! It is outdated to pump and dump. Exactly what the first comment says.
