@mamabear1416, see I have nothing against stay at home or working moms I applaud both ! But I never thought about this till I was actually pregnant. I used to say I could never be a stay at home mom and that I wouldn't do it but I find myself on the other side and praying I can do it and now I have the option its a matter of not knowing what to expect and getting used to not working when I worked always ! Day care is also an arm and a leg so that doesn't help either

I'd make sure whoever watched my child is certified in CPR and whatever else is important. hell I'd ask one of my emt or nurse friends to be a baby sitter! at least I know that way if anything goes down. someone has a good idea of what to do and how to approach! @chelsearomano

@misskaebby, that is very true ! And then you hear of all these respiratory emergencies in babies and stuff like that and I'm an EMT so I'm like if I go the route of having someone watch my baby they have to be CPR certified etc but that's so unrealistic I might as well stay home and watch my baby myself

I'm a stay-at-home mommy I was working 40+ hours a week before and during my first pregnancy, I quit my job 3weeks before my daughter was born and I have bean a stay-at-home mommy for going on 2 years in April and love it.. my hubby is an electricians apprentice and is not making much right now so we are struggling but if I was working also we still would be struggling as its 500 a month for the cheaper and still nice day care that I would have to put my daughter in and that was not and option for us as I would only be bringing home about 200 a month after paying the daycare and we also didnt/don't want strangers raising our daughter... so looking at it financially it's not worth it to work emotionally it's not worth it to work

and being a stay-at-home mommy is a big job in its self... I'm old fashioned I believe mommy's should stay home with the kids at least tell they are in school full time and my hubby is the same but we both fully understand and appreciate both parents working :) I take pics and videos of our daughters first and show them to my hubby and same with our son when he is born :)

@chelsearomano, you can go to google and apply to be a breast milk donor and they send you a box where you prick your finger so you can be tested to see if you smoke and are healthy and if your approved they will send you a box full of bottles you fill with milk and depending on the company most will pay $1.50 per ounce of milk

Oh cool we're on the same page. you could try to sell like jewelry or makeup or usborne books. I hear if you're good at it you can make quite a bit of money doing it

I'm a stay at home mom and have been for a looong time.. when I first moved out with my bf (now husband) I was still in hs and he worked our son was 8 months old. when he started school I worked a couple seasonal jobs here and there but always ended up quitting when the house got to dirty or cluttered up lol... I started college classes and graduated with a criminal justice degree but got pregnant right before so now I have a one year and another on the way along with my 11 year old all boys and my job is tough!! cleaning and cooking for boys is one tough gig and some days you def. don't feel appreciated but I am terrified of missing out on time with my kids..it breaks my heart when I think about it

@elizabethgilman, That's where I'm at I'm torn between wanting to stay home and wanting to also make money. I went to school and became an EMT and my goal is to become an RN at some point. While I stay home with the baby I thought about getting my health insurance license and selling health care plans and working from home! Hopefully.. it's a thought. I didn't know you could sell your breast milk that's interesting how does that work besides the obvious of pumping etc

I want to be a stay at home mom. But I also want to bring in some money so I've looked into selling breast milk which can bring in like $200 a month

@nharri22, that's what I don't want to miss things it's already hard enough my fiancé works many hours as a police officer and I don't want my children being raised by other people or in the hands of babysitters and day care nothing against moms who do it but at the same time it's all new to me and bit of a shell shock going from the one who usually makes the money being independent and now going to sort of being the dependent one while my fiancé works and pays the bills

@mommaoftwo22514, see that's the predicament I'm in my fiancé is a full time police officer and he prefers to take care of the bills while I take care of the house ! I love the idea for the first year @rbryanna same with my hubby ! @sarahemccormick that's beautiful see for the most part I'm a home body but I've always been independent and worked so I don't know fully what to expect @mommabear3cubs aww sounds like the most rewarding job ! I'm looking to stay at home the first year

I don't blame you, @chelsearomano . this is my first baby too. and I definitely don't want any people watching them, I don't trust very many people to begin with. my son is my golden egg, man. but it's normal to be over protective. that's your baby!

I am also staying home for at least the first year. My Fiance is completely fine with it.

my thoughts (and it's just my opinion I have nothing against working mom's...I am one now) I watched my sister in law work through both of her kids' first years and she missed so much. the first roll over, crawl, step, word. she missed it all. And her daughter's don't have an attachment to her. they just see her as the lady that lives where they sleep. I was there for my son's first everything and have a bond with him like no other. And with my daughter. I had to start working for financial reasons and it kills me. I want to quit when my baby is born in June but we'll see if I actually can. And that's just what I've seen with kids who's moms work but everyone is different. I think the mom needs to be in the home with the kids as they grow up but I know a lot of people who disagree. in the end I respect what ever mothers decide because being a mom is hard no matter what

@lilchicken, that's what I want to do stay at home with my baby atleast for the first year but this is my first baby and I'm used to being independent and making my own money and working 70 hours a week ! Since I got pregnant I've pretty much quit my job I've been so sick and me and my fiancé have decided it's best for me to stay with the baby for the first year @misskaebby but this is all new to me. I'm being slightly over protective since its my first baby and I don't want anyone watching my children or day care you hear so many crazy stories now a days. If it wasn't an option I wouldn't consider it but it's an option and a preferred one for me.

I stayed at home with my son for the 1st year. it is exhausting but worth it. my son and I have a great bond. but he is now in school. my daughter and I love our mommy daughter time when he is at school. I'm home all week and work weekends. it can be very tiring trying to keep up with them. laundry, dishes, cleaning, cooking, bottle making, bathing kids, etc... it's hard work. it is basically a job you only get hugs and kisses from baby for. which is the best payment in my opinion.

I think its absolutely fabulous. I stayed home with all four of my kids for at least the first 6 years, and once they got older I went to school and got a degree. I went from being a Paralegal and freelance writer to not working at all, and now I'm back to being a housewife and staying at home. I will yet again be a SAHM. I honestly love being able to have this privilege, but it is work and you do go stir crazy at times. My husband works lots of hours and makes crazy good money, and wants me to be able to stay home, so I am blessed ☺

I stay at home. my boyfriend works union so I don't need to work. we have our own house and he takes care of all the bills while I take care of our home. ITS FUCKING EXHAUSTING. I worked for abwhike but daycare took all my money because I opted to pay for it since I wanted more money for myself. I ended up quitting my job.

I'm being encouraged to be a stay at home mom for the first 6 months to a year by my boyfriend's family. which I have no problem with. im basically one already just without the kids. I do the cooking and the cleaning and some few extra things. but with how much we struggle financially I feel obligated to help out some with money. but I fully look up to stay at home moms! they're one of the real mvp's in my opinion!
