I'd really like to hear everyone's thoughts on circumcision.. I'm middle ground, my boyfriend is obviously- yes, he's being circumcised. thoughts?
if your husband is circumsized i would do the same for your son. that way when he looks at his father he's not wondering why his looks different. it may hurt the baby for a bit but not too long. just be careful pulling off the gauze and always keep his privates clean and medicated. i think it's better that they are circumsized due to infections they could possibly get. but they should have it the same as their father.
My husband is not and he wants our son to be bc it can make them be extremely self conscious when they are older. I've heard sooooo many women talk down on it about how gross it is & it's just super sad. Of course I don't care if they are or not :) but it's a cruel world. I haven't talk to a Male friend or boyfriend who hasn't wished they were when they weren't. The process is much more painful and harder when they are older. Also they need to be very clean. They can get bad infections if the skin is not pulled back and cleaned in the shower. But I totally agree on the video. It's so sad :( but if it's right after they're born there's not a chance they'll remember it
My nephew was circumcised. The hospital where he was born offered to different ways to have it done. They had a band put on that fell off by itself a few days later. He's one now and did just fine with it.
I absolutely know that it's not medically necessary. but if we were having or boy (or when we have a boy) we will definitely be circumcising. my fiance is circumcised so I don't want my son thinking something is wrong with him because daddy is different.
Also only 51% of males are actually circumsed. It's becoming less and less of a "social norm"!
I think it's cosmetic. Once I actually watched one being preformed I was immediately against it. It broke my heart and I was like in tears while watching it! It's horrible. Most the time they don't have any kind of numbing to it at all, they just strap them down and sorry to word it this way but rip it off. There is his video on YouTube you should check out. Lemme find the link for it!

we did it. kind of because now it's the social norm and most women I know (most, not all) are really grossed out by uncircumcised penises and often times avoid men with them. that and it's easier to keep clean
We are not doing it, we talked to a few pediatricians and did some research and determined it unnecessary for our baby. It doesn't have any proven health benefits and it's simply cosmetic.
I didn't want to circumcise my son but his father did...I held out for a couple of weeks but his dad was so concerned with how he'd feel when he started having sex and women thinking "it's gross" so I gave in. We had it done at home by a moyel (sp?), the way that Jewish people do it. It was numbed and he barely cried.
