Omg!!! I just found that I have an abscess Next to a tooth I had bruised a few weeks ago. I went into the dentist when I brusied it and he said that it should be fine in a few days and that if it wasn't to call back and it was fine. Pain went away. Now I have an abscess next to that tooth but it's Saturday night???? There's no way the abscess was there this morning but I just googled it and I'm freaking out. I know it's dangerous to let oral infections go untreated because it can cause sepsis and I'm panicking!!! Obviously dentist is closed and my ob dr isn't gonna be accessible until Monday along with the dentist so what do I do??? I'm afraid to let it go because what if something happen? I mean I bruised the tooth weeks ago now so does that mean the infection has been there this whole time??? I'm so scared! What do i do? Idfk who to call?

The er can treat it until you get to the dentist. They'll probably prescribe antibiotics. That's really you're only option and I wouldn't wait. Unless you have a 24 hour emergency dentist near you...

Ok so rinse your mouth with warm sea salt water until you can get to your dentist it will disinfect it however that's not a cure so still sea your doc

I'd find an urgent care center. Cheaper than an ER and you shouldn't be going to an ER for non emergent issues. Sepsis won't happen over just 2 days either if you have to wait until Monday. Just take it easy, use warm salt rinses, baby the area, don't eat super hard foods that could irritate it.

@marskhaos, I will for sure see the dr Monday whether it's the dentist or my ob (I see her Tuesday but I'm calling both ASAP) but I don't have sea salt??? I brushed my teeth twice really well in case it wasn't an abscess and it was something stupid but it didn't do anything and it didn't hurt. And I rinsed twice with salt water.. @swtlilangl no there's no 24 hr dentist and the er is an hour away and my husband is sleeping after 4 hours of sleep in over 24 hrs and I'm too panicked to drive myself.. I feel like everyone is just gonna tell me to wait (hubby and family) until Monday but I'm so freaked out. I mean baby still kicks like crazy but I'm just. Ugh. I'm scared.

@krystal, I don't think there's any urgent care centers near me and the closest er is an hour away and I injured the tooth over two weeks ago and idk if that means I've had an infection since then??

If it hasn't been hurting until today it has probably not been infected. It may have just been bruised. Signs of infection are increased pain, swelling, warmth to the area, fevers, and redness and drainage from the area. If you injured it and it's just hurting and looks kind of bad, it might not be infected yet. Still worth getting seen for but if you can't make it in until Monday I think it is okay as long as you aren't developing more signs of infection!

I injured it just over two weeks ago. It hurt like crazy for days I went into the dentist he said pain should go away in a few more days and if it does to not bother going back in to see him. Pain went away. It doesn't hurt. But today I developed an abscess next to that tooth. The gums are a little tender to the touch but over all nothing hurts. The abscess is warm to the touch and it's fairly big. Smaller than a molar but fairly big. @krystal

Gargle with warm salt water. It helps clean the wound. That helps get rid of some pain.
