So my daughter is 10 days old and my breast milk is nonexistent! Why? Is it something I ate???

Try to stay calm too. Depression can cause this.

Don't stop! I swear I wish you was close to me! Pumping can make you think you're not producing enough. This happened to me. Continue to let baby feed from your breast. She'll get your supply up. Don't give up! If you have to supplement one ounce of formula go ahead but I wouldn't do anymore than that much. My baby only had three ounces of formula in all because I thought I wasn't producing enough for him.

@emteebee, i depended on nursing too be financially i couldn't do formula, & my body prob couldn't "keep up" because i wasn't eating quit enough either (with 2 kids already & just having my 3rd my food portions were smaller than what they should've been i admit). i know the struggle darlin, not everyone has walked a mile in shoes with holes in them. try not & become too discouraged as i said, i damn near fell into a depression over it. do your BEST to drink lots of water, milk &/or juices and eat everything you can get your hands on. DO NOT STOP TRYING to nurse tho! that will allow your body to stop trying to produce all together! the baby's suck is 10 x's stronger than any pump, so use baby to continue to inform your body "hey - we ain't done here!". if you don't think you will make it til Monday, go on in to the ER. they can give you saline &/or any type of "boosters" your body may need. plus ghey can give you the blood tests you need to figure out if your even slightly dehydrated or have high proteins (which means you're not eating enough). going to the ER is free & can give you possible answers. DO NOT sit there & stress bcoz that stress WILL make it worse. either go on in to the ER or make plans for an appt first thing monday. either way - don't stop nursing & don't give up! as new moms we run into all sorts of crazy things, this is your "crazy thing" & you've come this far, no sense in letting this defeat you now hun

@her_plus_her_and_me, I didn't eat yesterday because my landlord (we live with her. she's a truck driver that rents to us) said that I can't use her dishes. She knows that I just had a baby and she randomly won't let me use dishes to cook. I ate bananas yesterday only. ugh. I'm going to lose it

There's all kinds of possible remedies on Pinterest that may help get your milk back up. Try letting baby feed anyway. She may be able to get it back. Supply and demand

How much you pump is not an indication of how much you're producing!!! But peppermint can decrease production, other things as well I just don't know them all. I'd look it up if you're worried so you may be able to avoid it in the future.

I just want to cry. I fed her last night, pumped a great amount and today..nothing. It seems completely empty. I don't want my daughter on formula at all so I'm getting a little discouraged. @jenn4444

@emteebee, i experienced the same thing with my last 2 babies! i literally nursed my daughter to sleep when she was about 2wks old, & waking up the next morning- i never filled back up! it was just GONE! & never came back! i had to rush out to get formula & made an appt with my doc where i was told it "just happens sometimes". my body couldn't keep up & continue to produce. it damn near caused me to slip into a depression bcoz i didn't feel adequate as a mother. my advice is is to go ahead in to see your doc, or if you recieve WIC, you can make an appt with their lacticion (i know i spelled that wrong!) - just to be sure of whats going on exactly. getting answers will help all the way around
