Momma's I need some advice. My daughter is due Feb 5th and I'm very concerned what to put on her birth certificate. Her dad and I are together but he got in some trouble and has been away for past 2 months and will probably miss the birth. He is so happy to be a dad and I know he wants to change but his history with substance abuse is pretty bad...he wants her to have his last name - we are not married yet. This is so important and I want to make the right decision. Any help ?

thank you ladies. I think this is a big deal so I'm gona give it a lot of thought. My S.O. has a tendency to get his way by being manipulative but he really needs to prove to me he will change and be there for me and his baby girl.
all my kids have their dad's last name, you can always change it, I'm due Feb 5 with my son and be won't have his dad's last name because him nor any of his family has nothing to do with me
I was in the same exact spot with my oldest , his dad is the same way . I ended up giving him both last names hyphenated. Arata-Reno . Our relationship didn't work out and we split about 3 months after Hunter was born ! He still legally is Arata-Reno but he goes by Arata ! His dad hasn't been active in his life at all and he's now 6 ! The day is coming when I decide to drop his dad's last name officially ! I gave him a shot and he decided not to take it !
I don't think it matters rather you are married or not if you want your baby to have his dad's last name he should. Don't forget its not just about him..how's his family? Does the baby have loving grandparents and aunts and uncles from his side? They'd probably appreciate it to they are the family as well.
thank you all. I guess I'm just scared from a legal standpoint...like what if he gets out and never changes and tries to hold the baby over my head...idk. I love him...it's just he really went off the deep end with this pregnancy and lost his freedom for 6 months. he should get out right after she's born
my baby has my SOs last name and we are not married and i wouldnt chang it for the world.
Honestly when he is finally back around if yall do a dna test to prove his paternity you can legally change the babies name if yall decide to later. It's tough I know I've been there but I settled with my last name and figured it could change later if the opportunity came but it never did.
legally it's your choice to make but they way I see it is even if he isn't in the picture later on having his last name wouldn't be a big deal. unless you just don't want to have to say it which is understandable.
I plan on putting both last names on my sons birth certificate as well.

you could put his and your last name on the birth certificate. I have both my dads and moms last names .
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...

Did anyone see that video a dad posted on his daughters FB page? He saw a post she made where she bashed her parents and cursed them, called them lazy and told them they should pay her for stuff she did around the house... So he called her out on it and put the video on her page!! Sorry if I missed a post already about this already, but I just saw the video and IT WAS AWESOME!!! Hahahhaa!

Ok, so my friend is wanting to get pregnant but..... Her fiancé does not want kids, at lease for another 3-5 years he said... so she came up with the idea to have me pee on a stick for her and show it to him so that he’ll be comfortable with not wearing a condom and finishing in her.. basically the whole idea is to make him think she’s pregnant already...... so I do this favor for her or should I tell my girl to chill?
He and my husband are friends through us and he’s going to invite him over...
@jamielynn07, some days I do, some days I dont.... I just need to see him change and live up to his potential. Up til this point he's caused me a lot of stress and heartache. He can be very selfish and the drugs destroy everything. If he can stay clean our relationship will have a chance.
