mommy's that have potty trained little girls... we are planing on starting to potty train our daughter after the first of the year and I wanted to know what do you think is a better way to go should we do pull ups or just go straight to panties? our daughter will be 2 in April and in march baby John will be born so we are hoping to have her potty trained before or shortly after he gets here... thank you in advance and I will take all comments into consideration :)

I nannied for a couple of years and the girls I watched around that age wore pull ups. It saves you from accidents that will happen here and there. Once they get used to pull ups and aren't having any accidents, then go on with underwear.

My niece went straight into panties except during naps and at night. The uncomfortable feeling of wetness reinforced using the toilet.

I'd go straight into chonies but I'd use plastic pants to avoid messes. Peeing everywhere is embarrassing, even for children. I still remember a few traumatic experiences peeing myself as a small child (even in my own home) and I remember how uncomfortable it was (it's itchy and even stings a little on the thighs.) Also remember to never get upset or angry for an accident. I think that may be why I still have bad memories of having accidents. It was made a big deal like "oh god look what you've done now I have to clean it up and bathe you" my niece was recently forced to potty train, she was having problems with it (she's 3) and when my sister and her husband decided to divorce, he decided he was gonna literally force her to pee in a toilet. Now every time she wets herself (usually while sleeping) she cries her lil eyes out. I feel so bad, it breaks my heart.

Thank you and we forsure will not be forcing her into it, I will look in to the plastic panties... I'm happy you ladies could help me with some info and advice :) ...I know a girl that was not potty trained tell she was almost 5 years old...
