help me please! trying to get info and no one has a steady answer on ovia lol

I gave birth in 2013. I had a line placed in my back that stayed there until after birth. And I was given a button to use when I needed it. It wore off while I was pushing completely and I was able to push the button again while I was being stitched..... I've never had a one shot epidural.

last time they gave me a single shot was 09 they don't do the single shots anymore where em from u press the button to get the meds

They gave it to me..

Mine was one shot. And it lasted all my labor and them some, it was amazing...

@millieesue, I thought you couldn't get an epidural @7cm or after. . . . .

my epidural was one shot. one and done. they injected the meds into me and I was numb for hours. lol.

I have had 2 babies since 2013 and this will be my 3rd and every time I could control it. it was not a single shot. I could press the button every 10 mins to get more relief!

Lol I waited til I was 7 CM dilated before I got it because I am super scared of needles lol.

ok kool hopefully they do that at my hospital..im really weird about getting the epidural but i thought well if i cant handle the pain and/or im in labor an extremely long time it might help but i dont want to be completely vegetablized from the waist down lol @millieesue @zombie_kitty69 @wiccanmommy

when I had my epidural it was like an IV in my back and ever 15 minutes or so if needed I was able to push a button and get more.

But it is just a single shot @savvysmom and if you want to double check ask the hospital you'll deliver at

It's a single shot and that's it, it use to be like an IV but in your back where you have a button to control how much you want but that was years and years ago((but some hospitals still do it))

Weird thing is I've heard you can have it placed but not turned on, like wth since when does it have a on/off switch.

Its just a single shot. and yes it can wear off. no they do not leave a needle in your back
