Yes. They also hook up and Iv even if nothing connected just Incase.

IV I'm not concerned about and honestly I never had a problem with needles until recently at the prenatal doctor's. Whenever I get blood taken, I always feel sick and even throw up afterwards. :/ I just don't know if that's just my body over reacting to the needle or what.

I'm not good with needles either so when I need blood drawn I always ask them to use a pediatric needle. Still freaks me out and I have to bury my head in my husbands chest but it isn't as bad.

@missyowl92, what's the difference in a pediatric needle ? lol just curious I didn't know there was different ones

@elenasmommy, it's just a smaller needle usually used for kids but it's still just as effective. Also if you get an IV they usually use a butterfly needle and that's about the same as a pediatric one.

@missyowl92, oh okay Ik what a butterfly needle is because im the queen of needing IV so that makes sense lol

@elenasmommy, yeah I had to have an IV once and it freaked me out having something stuck in my hand like that but it wasn't too bad, but I always go with pediatric needles, much more tolerable, feels like a bug bite.

unless you are dehydrated you can request no Intravenous Injection of any kind unless requested. they will honor it.

What @pregnant.midwife2016 said ;) that's what I did with my first. I told them I didn't want one unless absolutely necessary.

yes @jmcmillion unless you are dehydrated and/or the baby is at risk in some way then they will do an IV to help baby deliver smooth and healthy. legally and technically you can refuse any medical treatment whether they want you to or not. just make sure it's the right choice for you and baby.
