To my knowledge, there are certain things we as pregnant women are advised not to do. Things that could totally wait until after you have your baby such as, using tanning beds, getting a new tattoo or piercing, bleaching your entire head of hair, eating whatever you want without taking precautions and eliminating certain things from your diet that could harm your baby, etc. The list goes. Personally, my baby's health is my top priority and i just couldn't do anything that I knew could potentially cause harm to him. I know I can't be the only one who feels this way.

I stopped tanning a month before I conceived. It's not worth it. I used to get hot while tanning. Also add laser hair removal! It's unsafe while pregnant! So many things we must avoid just to have healthy and happy baby's!! 👶👶👶

@bellahali, I agree, warm baths/showers help tremendously! Or using a heating pad intermittently.

@sparked, I believe I stated that it is not proven wether or not it can hurt the baby just a few comments above yours. If there isnt evidence you cannot state that it is 100% safe. Like I said, there are certain things you can do in order to be on the safe side. And I recall tanning beds being extremely hot even with a fan, so personally I wouldn't do it. And I see no need to go to the tanning bed when pregnant anyway, but that's just me. You are completely entitled to think and do exactly as you want. I'm very glad your baby is healthy!

Im the same with the medications. I was going through a SCH (subchorionic hemmorhage) when I was 12 weeks pregnant, and I was in *severe* pain. The ER doctor and my midwife told me to take Tylenol (reg strength ) and I refused. I would rather deal with the pain than subject my baby to anything. The only thing I don't have a problem taking is zantac.

you do know that several of the things you mentioned are 100% SAFE during pregnancy right? there is NO concrete medical evidence proving that they are not. Tanning? as long as you don't get too hot? SAFE!! Tanning simply changes the pigment of YOUR skin, that's IT. Anyone that wants to argue that is IGNORANT. I've had my hair lightened and colored (ALL OVER) all in my first trimester!! and guess what? my baby couldn't be healthier!!

I know it is but I never liked taking Tylenol even before pregnancy! I do enjoy taking warm showers! Helps so much with pain :)

I'm still new to this so thankfully I haven't seen any of this on here, but know people that do these things and it seriously bothers me. But like you said it's their decision and saying something probably wouldn't do any good. I just pray for the baby's health!

Me too! I see lots of things on here but I keep my mouth shut. Not my decision even if it really bugs me...

@bellahali, tylenol regular strength is supposed to be safe. I am the same way though, I don't take anything unless I am experiencing pain that is just unbearable.

Exactly, and IF you are going to dye your hair there are precautions you should take, it is suggested that you make an early appointment so that you're not surrounded by fumes when there are a lot of other clients in the salon. Also there are natural dyes that don't have the ammonia and other chemicals. I'd stay away from bleach, period though. I've also read that if you do want to dye your hair, not to get an all over color that can be absorbed through the scalp because it is not proven wether or not it can hurt the baby. You can get foils done that do not touch your scalp. @sarahemccormick

I have horrible back pain and my doctor told me to take Tylenol but honestly I'd rather deal with the pain.

Amen. I agree..There was a girl asking about dying her hair tonight...and I said its allowed, but I wouldn't do it. I didn't dye my hair with any of my previous four kids, and Im not going there with this one either. One stupid mistake while pregnant can be detrimental to the baby's growth and life forever. Its NOT worth the risk!
