So my friend is due around the same time as me. She recently bought a house and is now infested in bed bugs gonna cost her around $300 to get rid of them and with a baby on the way any day now they can't afford it. Anyone got any advice?
we got the bed bugs from a cruise we went on and we didn't know they can travel and stick on our clothes but my household got ..well had bed bugs actually recently and they told us it would be 1600 just to get the treatment and cleaning done ....my mom said it was too much so what we did was call Stanley steamer the carpet cleaner and we had them clean and steam the carpets and couches in every room and we bought bed bug spray and sprayed it all on the beds and couches and vacuumed the beds and couches out and washed everything in hot water EVERYTHING and it's been about 3 days now and no one has gotten bit so far!!!!! what we did worked and saved money ..AND IM HAPPY THAT THEY ARE GONE BECAUSE MY DUE DATE IS THIS WEEK and I was concerned about it but the problem is gone
Alcohol, that's what the exterminators use. It's has to be a really high proof, about 99% or higher. Use a spray bottle. Kills on contact. May have to take apart the bed frames to get the spray in every corner.
I know a friends who went to doyourownpestcontrol.com and ordered the kit for bedbugs. It gives you the exact same products exterminators use and directions on how to do it. Its around $70 which is better than $300. Only thing is she would not be able to do it herself due to the chemicals but it worked.
bed bugs are the most difficult thing to get rid of. honestly it's best to use an exterminator, I had them in my house years back and couldn't get rid for the life of me. nothing worked for more than a few days. took almost 4 months of trying to do it myself before I gave into an exterminator and throwing majority of my furniture away due to being so infested. I have a horrible traumatic fear of bugs now.
wash all fabrics and put beddings in thick double sealed plastic bags. get rid of mattresses and buy new (before bringing in the house put in plastic covers) it would be cheaper just to pay for exterminators. keep in mind they don't always work. may need to find temporary living.
