SEEKING ADVICE: first time mom here.... I'm due in feb and I wanna try breast feeding... any tips…

Your nipples will get chapped while you're in the hospital.. when your baby is feeding, take a little milk and rub that on them. They will heal so much faster and it's more natural than cream!

Don't pump until after 6 weeks it could cause over supply

Drink plenty of water, try not to have stress as it can effect your supply and drink some lactation teas or eat lactation cookies.

Oh... And remember both you and baby are new at this. It will take time to get you rhythm going.

If your going back to work I'd suggest pump before the 6 weeks. Over supply is never bad, I breast fed my daughter for 17 months and also pumps for a friend of mines baby because her daughter was allergic to formula and I was their only resort to getting her baby breast milk. Even if you do pump a lot that can just go towards your baby when you have dry spells. I had to have another freezer for my breast milk.

alright...@shelbyroberson, when should I start pumping?? a couple days.... I have a hand pump... not an electric one..

I started pumping from day 1. My daughter didn't have a very good latch and wouldn't take bottles so I had to just pump when I would feel full (they get hard and they kind of hurt) I would also keep nipple butter and Coconut oil handy to keep those nipples from being sore or cracking.

By the 2nd day she had a good schedule for nursing. Just remember to pump when you feel full or it'll go away and you won't produce as much.

okay... so when my boobs get hard just pump until I can't get anything else? what kind of butter and oil should I get... I looked a at Walmart for something like that but I didn't see anything... @shelbyroberson
