This is worth the read! I'm doing delayed cord clamping, and not letting them take my baby off my chest until I feel ready. My newborn will also not get the eye drops or hep B shot. The things they do to these brand new babies blows my mind. I wish I would have known all these things with my first.

The article definitely makes sense but that's not how it works all the time. Macie was born 3 months ago. They immediately put her on my chest. They did the prolonged cord clamping. Then I was allowed to have skin to skin and breast feed her. All before delivering the placenta. I got a lot of time with her. I handed her to dad so I could deliver placenta and then I got her back. The docs asked if I wanted her washed and weighed and whatnot but I said no. They didn't do the shot until maybe our second day and she didn't even leave the room. Some of those interventions are important and most of the time the hospital will either allow you to be a part of it or will just do it in your room. Macie was only taken out of my room once- hearing test- and was returned immediately. I promise, most hospitals and providers know it is most important for you to have skin to skin and bonding time with baby.

I work land on doing all that as wellnand read an article on delaying the first bath after a few days so the baby can get use to their mothers scent and a few other beneficial reason for mother and child.

here where I delivered they asked if I wanted the hep b vitamin k and the eye drops I told them I didn't want anything and they told me in could denie the hep b and vitamin k but not the eye drops if I do they would have to call cps. it's to prevent infection in the eye or something like that . but I a do sign a paper denying the hep b and vitamin k...

It's so sad that it's just a business to them when it's our life & it determines the remainder of life... & not to make excuses for the horrible things some moms do to their child but, with all the interventions you can understand why some moms don't bond with the baby...it's like an animal...if you intervene too soon that animal will kill the young

I know and they get so much more of the nutrient rich blood if you wait until the placenta is delivered to cut the cord. They just wanna hurry and get their job done so they can go home. It's sad. @royce_ivy

I'm so happy that my hospital believes in prolonged skin to skin and unless you are choosing to have a circumcision ( we are having a girl) the parents are never separated from the baby.

Totally agree...I read this a few weeks ago & my mind was made up !!! I hate how they try to say oh we have to cut the cord it's too tight around baby...well baby doesn't breathe until the cord is cut..so your unwanted intervention is the cause of my baby being delivered blue 😡
