We have two kittens inside they have been inside for months now. Is there anything I should know about before baby gets here? I'm kinda nervous with them in the house
@lyndonmichellegodby, I believe if I remember correctly not all cats carry it however there isn't a test that 100% for it. it is call toxoplasmosis if you want to do research on it but the best thing is just to ask someone else to change the litter for awhile.
We had cats around my son and I grew up with them also. Yes cats can smother but I just wouldn't aloe them to lay with baby unless you are watching. We aloud our cats to lay with our son when we brought him home as long as we were monitoring. Now him and his cat simba have an inseparable bond. Anything you want to know about cat and what they carry call a pediatrician and they will give you full details on what to watch for
I had a cat when my first daughter was born. It never suffocated, stole milk, or held any diseases. I guess it's in how well they're taken care of. *shrugs*
No they really are attracted to the smell of milk and some do try to lay on babies which can suffocate aka "steal babies breath" you are correct! @just9monthsx3 also they carry a lot of nasty diseases keep them away from baby!
Cats can smother babies bc they are drawn toward are milk smell. There claws carry disease and it's important to probably keep them away from the baby until she/he can move independently. You shouldn't be changing the litter box either :) that's all I know about it
I have 3 cats. They're indoor and outdoor. if I can't 100% supervise the baby, like run to the kitchen or something, I'm going to put a gate up to keep them out of the bedroom. same at night when we are sleeping. I think it'll be okay
Get them used to baby's scents and sounds, and to not having all your attention. Cats do NOT eat/steal the breath of babies. Be in the lookout for allergies in the new addition (baby). During your pregnancy avoid the kitty litter!!!
