My son is 6 months old and idk how to break this habit with him but he still wakes up about five times a night wanting a bottle.
a doctor said to just rock him and try to put him to sleep without his bottle because most of the time the baby just wants to be comforted. Vincent did the same till he was almost 2yrs. and this time with Sammy I only feed him once a night sometimes, or around 5/6AM, but holding him till he falls asleep is working.
This is very normal behavior for babiea at this age. You're doing great by responding to his needa. This is especially a time when he needs you because he is growing through big changes! There might be some gentle ways to encourage longer sleep like playing white noise and wearing something cozy like a ZippadeeZip :) Hang in there mama. Having a baby is hard but rewarding work!
@mrsmoore, yes I do both formula and breastfeed but the breast milk is given through a bottle as well and I have done the rice cereal but it doesn't fill him up anymore.
@mdomke22, aggh no, my son hasn't ever taken a paci, and I tried to give him a bottle real quick then switch and he knows the difference so he spit it out like wtf is this lol. But yeah I am not giving up I'm going to keep trying different things. But this just started happening so let's hope to god it doesn't last long!!!
omg.... nylah stopped night feedings at like 3/4 months..... I'd be going CRAZY! hopefully you can find some good advice momma! does your babe like pacifiers? my doctor told me they just like to suck at night that's how I weined nylah off her night bottle. I'd just rock her and hold her with the paci and put her back in the crib. might cry a Lil but I just kept going over and putting her paci in. eventually they learn how to self sooth and stay asleep or fall back asleep if they do wake up in the middle of the night.
@queendavis, well I have no problem getting him to sleep, and once he's asleep he will stay asleep for at least four hours. Then after that it's almost every two hours he wakes up. And it's the same scream he has everytime it isn't a cry at all, it's weird. He will just start screaming and nothing calms him unless it's a bottle!! So idk how long I would be comfortable letting him scream, a cry yes but it's not a cry he does!!
sense he's six months have you tried putting rice cereal in a bottle unless you breast feed
I had to sleep train my son at six months old because he just would not sleep, and we used the cry it out method. I know it SOUNDS horrible, but if you look into it you'll see that it really isn't bad at all. You don't let them cry very long and it honestly really works. By the FOURTH night my son fell asleep within ten mins of us laying him down, and he only cried for two mins. & most parents say that it only took a few nights for their kid to get the point and just fall asleep and stay asleep. It'll teach your son to sleep through the night and there's also ways to distinguish his cries to tell if he's actually in distress or just crying because he isn't getting his way. Our son is now 1.5 and I lay him down fully awake every night (and for naps) and he puts himself to sleep. Sleeps 8/9pm-9am! If it sounds like something you're into I definitely recommend googling it and also Pinterest has some good stuff on the cry it out method. I know how hard it can be, my son would wake up so many times during the night, but I finally got my sanity back by sleep training him! lol
@valerie_jean, I'm glad I'm not alone but it would be nice for them to start sleeping through at lease 4-5 hours without one lol
@courtney_boyea, I'm so glad we aren't alonw
