My husband's brother tried to commit suicide and he was taxed and hospitalized. I have been home with the baby since he left. The baby has been extremely fussy and I'm not feeling 100% at all. I could really use his help here. Is it selfish of me to want him here helping me? His brother pulls this stunt all the time. I feel like he now has a family and he has a responsibility here with us. I understand it's his family but so are we. I'm sitting here crying and getting frustrated because I can't calm the baby at all. Am I being selfish for wanting him here?

You're allowed to feel the way you feel. That's not selfish. But he should be with his brother, and it's very insensitive to call it a stunt, even if he's tried it 30 times. He obviously needs help and has a mental illness whether it's suicidal ideation, major depression, schizophrenia, or an illness where he seeks attention and sympathy from others. It's obviously an issue and he should be supported by his family in his times of need. You should be happy that the father of your child has the patience and heart to deal with it time and time again.

You're not being selfish it's ok to feel that way but he should be there with this brother. I lost my father that way and it may be something his brother does often but you never know if he will succeed amd your husband should be there to help and if possible try to save him it's a hard thing to deal with multiple times. Just remember that baby loves you even when they are being a pain and that you have a wonderful man willing to deal with major family issues instead of just running away or ignoring them.

The baby feels what you feel. Calm yourself and maybe walk away for a second and then try again. You can do this

Have you tried watching Happiest Baby on the Block? His techniques for soothing a baby are amazing!! Highly recommend!! It's hard to care for a fussy baby alone. Hang in there!! :)
