Someone from the What To Expect app recommend this app so I figured I would try it out 😊 I just have a question though...I'm a first time mom and getting a little nervous about the genetic disorder blood work & anatomy scan coming up in a few weeks. I'm wondering if I should even get the blood work done because I've heard a lot of people experience false positives, get further testing done & everything is fine. I know the anatomy scan would show anything of concern so should I worry myself with the blood work?

same girl. I chose not to get the genetic testing because like you said if there were anything abnormal going on you would most likely be able to see it through the anatomy scan

I'm trying not to worry and just be positive (& pray a lot!) but I can't help but have that thought in the back of my mind. Just want to see my little miss and know everything is ok 😊💕

My doctor said she wouldn't take the test if it was her baby. so I didn't take it. it's not an actual yes or no. just give you a round about number or odd chance. I never took more and less because she said she wouldn't.

I never did. If your an emotional roller coaster then I wouldn't recommend it. I didn't and it was still on my mind all day everyday of those two little words 'what if'.

I never got the blood work done because they said my anatomy scan looked great, so I didn't think it was necessary 😊

Too funny, I'm on there too ☺️ I'm leaning towards that, I may call the doctor tomorrow and discuss it

Our weeks match up! I am on the March board on wte 😊. My husband and I discussed this a lot. We decided not to because it seemed to be a lot of unneeded stress.

Thanks y'all! I guess I'm a little more nervous just bc I have a cousin that has Down syndrome. My doctor told me I don't have anything to worry about bc everything is healthy so far and that's a distant relative.

I wouldn't if I were you. I did the blood work and got myself all worked up and stressed out for nothing.

No need to worry, it's usually just a little finger prick and that's about it. At least that is what mine was like and an ultrasound. Everything turned out fine, and sometimes you can find out the gender that way as well :)
