Why are so many women being induced these days? Not all of them can possibly want it or truly need it.... Thoughts?
These are not my words, but Pitocin has been described as "holding an infant underwater and allowing the infant to come to the surface to gasp for air but not to breathe."---Doris Haire
That's why fetal distress and C-section so often follow continued dosing of pitocin. It's called "emergency c-section" where they probably just caused the damn emergency! Makes me mad.
I had an induction and it resulted in an emergency c-section due to me being a type 2 diabetic and I was not dilating past a 5 after 36 hours in labor. My membranes ruptured and at that point they decided they would do the surgery. Once I was in surgery they realized baby was stuck in my right hip bone and was not able to help me dilate further.
if i don't go into labor by Friday were ill be 41/2, ill be scheduled to be induced not because i want to but at that point my doctor feels as its medically necessary
some babies get to be too big to have them vaginally, this isy second pregnancy and I've already been told I'll need to be induced my babies grow to big and to make labor less painful they have to induce me, my son was so big that when he finally came through the birth canal his ribs squeezed together and poked holes in both of his lungs he had to have a bunch of Xrays to make sure the holes closed before I could take him home. some women have to be induced because of medical reasons and some just have babies that grow to be too big to fit through the birth canal.
this is true...watched it in a documentary yesterday. makes me want to get a midwife and go to a birthing center
I went into labor on my own at exactly 40 weeks, but they used pitocin to speed it up a little once I was there because I wasn't dilating as fast as they wanted me to. Had her just fine, vaginally. But I do hate seeing when women are in a hurry to have their babies and get induced at 38 weeks or so. 2 weeks do matter. I don't think it should be done unless medically needed. Pregnancy is uncomfortable, it happens. But I'd never choose to be induced unless it was the best thing for me and my child.
I think that's true.... I was 41 weeks with my first daughter and was induced it resulted in and "emergency c section" Thankfully I was able to go into labor naturally with my other two and birth vaginally.
I'm against induction as well unless it is medically nessasary! I don't understand why so many people do it for no real reason!
I got induced. I was 40.4 but it was a good thing I was bc my water broke and was full of blood. so I don't know if he would of lived another day. my doctor just did it bc he doesn't like babies to go over due date.
I had to be induced because at 35 weeks I started getting high blood pressure and it wasn't gonna go down. so when I went in at 37 weeks to get induced my blood pressure was getting higher so be safe they wanted me to have her. I wanted to wait until I was 40 weeks but I could tell that my blood pressure was acting up. so not all induction and c-section and just cuz they want to hurry up. some have to have it right away
All I can say is I'm SO happy my doctors were against induction until 41 weeks. I've heard of some doctors scheduling induction bc they're going on vacation or silly reasons like that!
When medically necessary I say go for it. But a lot of times it's just whiny women who don't trust their bodies to do what we're designed to do!
I'm so glad I went into labor the day before I was supposed to be induced
