I went into my Dr's office on the 29th of September for a normal check up. My Dr allowed me to get an ultrasound to check her weight, and that's when they noticed her gestational size was smaller than normal. My Dr came into the room and told me I was having a baby. He gave me 2 hours to go home and get my things and myself together, and be at the hospital. I was going to be induced.
When I arrived at the hospital, I went straight to labor and delivery and they put me in a room. They started the process at 6:30 pm by places a pill by my cervix to thin it.. I was then checked every 4 hours to see if thinning or dilation had began. After 16 hours of contractions, no dilation and only 50% of my cervix thinned, they started the pitocin. They started my dose at a 2, actually making my contractions a little more tolerable. After 2 or 3 hours of no change, they upped my dose to a 4. The contractions were reaching up to 70 mil. Three or so hours went by and I was checked again, I was 80% effaced and only dilated to 1cm. Again, they upped my pitocin to 6 mil.. and the contractions became INTENSE. Reaching up to 90 mil and sometimes spiking higher. Nurses were starting to see variables in her heart rate because of the pain I was in. I attempted a pain killer first and it only lasted an hour and the contractions were back in full blast. I attempted to try the pain killers one more time before getting the epidural (I was trying to wait until I had dilated more before getting the epidural) and it didn't take. After 3 hours of intense contractions every 2 minutes back to back, I got the epidural. They got me situated and I was able to sleep for a couple hours. Once again, her heart rate was showing variables, so they switched the side I was laying on every 30 minutes to an hour. the nurse checked me about an hour or 2 after receiving the epidural and I was at a 2/3 and fully effaced. an hour and a half later, I was checked again and was an 8/9 and baby girl was LOW. 20 minutes later I was a 10 and they could feel her head. May I remind you that this whole time, her heart was showing variables, my oxygen was low, I was shaking uncontrollably and puking. When they told me to push, it took 10 minutes and she was here. My little girl is here. A total of 36 hours of labor. 10 hours of that was with my water broken. I tore and was cut the rest of the way.
Honestly, postpartum is worse then labor! lol. She is perfect. We are currently dealing with the uv lights due to her jaundice.. but this is just a small bump in the road. My angel is here. Thank you to all the ladies who helped me through my pregnancy. I couldn't have done it without yall.
