question for the moms who've had their babies... what type of infant thermometer do you use? I don't know if I should get a rectal or temporal artery (scans the forehead and behind ears) one.

I'd say the one that scans less uncomfortable for the baby

@afa2015, that's what I'm thinking but they're fairly pricey.

Honestly rectal is the most accurate. I know it seems like an awful thing to do but that's what the Dr and the ER will do if you take the baby there. Also you barely have to stick it in there. We have bought all the other extremely expensive ones but they all break within a few ones but my regular cheap thermometer is still going strong.

I've had 3 scan thermometers AND THEY HAVE ALL BROKEN or tore up somehow!! I would recommend the original thermometer, get the plastic covers. Rectal is the best way to take it anyways when infant, it is most accurate......

I'm on my 3rd child, I promise taking a rectal temp is best, and it is not that uncomfortable for baby, just makes them want to poop sometimes haha. Just make sure that you only put the tip about 1/2 inch in!

@ncorso214, @ncorso214 that's what my mom (a nurse) and my coworkers are saying, too. Plus they're way cheaper.

They say rectal until they're a little bigger. At least that's what my doc said
