By the time we buy everything we need and pay our bills, we have about $20 left. I'm not married so I removed my fiancé from my case and immediately got them. Because we were "over" the networth.

dont be embarrassed!!! I think they should be for working families I dont think its fair to give them to people who make a living doing nothing. It should be for working people and people who need temporary help to get back on their feet.

Thanks ladies, I guess its just because we've been off them so long now that I feel its a bit embarrassing. I know when we were on them before, the cashiers would like, read the receipt at the bottom to see what we used to pay, like being nosey, and the people behind us in line wpuld trash talk if they knew it was food stamps we were using. I hated the feeling.

@rhia, I 100% agree with you. wheb I had my son I was hoping to get food stamps while on my maternity leave but they told me I do not qualify because I'm married and I'm not really unemployed just on a LOA. You could try for WIC. We don't qualify for food stamps because my husband makes too much but because we will soon have 7 in our household since I'm expecting #5 we do qualify for WIC. You would get benefits for you while pregnant and any of your kids under 5.
