So if we plan on formula feeding, are we suppose to bring bottles with us? Do we need to bring formula or do they provide it? (please don't comment with the whole breast is best stuff, it's simply a question)

Hospital has formula but idk if they provide all the formula. You may want to bring a container or the premixed new born bottles

my hospital provides formula while baby is there and they send you home with a thing of it as well

I would ask your doctor because a lot of hospitals (I don't know about TX) don't/can't support bottle feeding under new Obama Care regulations and won't "allow" bottle feeding unless specific circumstances occur ie premie or health concerns... In NJ hospitals aren't allowed to have newborns have pacifiers even if the parents brings them!

My hospital provides it and sends you home with some as well :) if you want to use a specific type of bottle though, bring your own. They don't give you any options, they just have one type they give and I remember thinking I would want to bring my own

umm when I went and they asked if I was formula feeding they gave me these little bottles of formula and all you need was a nipple for it

@ngujen, a good friend of mine had a baby in July and they refused to let her bottle feed or to let her baby have a pacifier! They said it was because of regulations that are part of Obama care stating that unless there is a medical reason or specific situations then moms must attempt to breast feed.. I never heard of such a thing until she had her baby. She is bottle feeding and it was a public hospital. Craziness!

I would check with your hospital. I'm not completely sure, but I get the impression that my hospital does not provide formula (unless it's a premi need). They are VERY pro breastfeeding. I don't think they will stop you, but I'm not sure if they provide you with the resources unless it is medically necessary. On a side note, they also do not provide pacifiers. We were told to bring one if we wish to use one.
