Still having breastfeeding issues. 😭 I'm producing more now but he won't stay latched for more than a couple mins then pulls away and cries. When in the hospital we did so much better, but just didn't make enough. I feel like I can't win. I'm sticking it out, I'm pumping like crazy and eating/drinking things to assist with lactation. I will be calling the lactation consultant when this holiday is over.

if you have a fast let down you can always lay on your back and let baby on top of you to feed.

if you are having a fast let down, and he pulls away, allow it to pass then let him drink again. my son did the same thing, thats the only thing you can really do when you start off with a fast let down

well yes and no. a lot of drs are not educated very well on breastfeeding and latching, reason why we have lactation consultants. you should definitely get one. look online at lip and tongue ties see what you think this way you can decide if you need a second opinion. some babies can latch fine with them and some can't. try different positions too.

@kabeej, If you feel like he is tongue tied I would call his pediatrician and ask for an appointment to check. And definitely call a lactation consultant, they can help a lot!

Nipples shields are great for babies having issues latching well but it makes it easier for them to get milk but also controls the flow so they don't get overwhelmed with milk flow!

I'm 6 days postpartum. I thought maybe he was tongue tied, but wouldn't the doctor tell me about this? I might try a nipple shield. I just want this to work out. Thanks for the advice @mommyofmisters , @klachappelle , @jomommaclark

fenugreek vitamins and brewers yeast vitamins are good to take.

also that could also be him telling your breast to produce more milk.

@thehowtohippie, I think it's not coming out fast enough for him. Like I'm not having a let down

I agree with @thehowtohippie you're letdown is probably too forceful and he's getting frustrated. I would contact a lactation consultant and see how you should go about fixing it.

He's probably pulling off during a let down. Yours maybe too fast and it's bothering him
