Birth Story!

29 weeks they said my son was in the normal range for weight. 18th percentile which is still on the small side but normal. Had been seeing the high risk doctor after losing 24 week old twins 2 years ago. High risk doctor did cervix checks throughout the pregnancy and ultrasounds every two weeks. He said he would do another scan at 34 weeks to check the growth. Baby was under percentile weighing 4 pounds 7 is at 34 weeks and doctor decided to start fetal monitoring twice a week and moved up the C section to 38 weeks. I kept up with the appointments and made sure baby was always active along with eating more protein to help baby gain weight. Other than the IUGR this pregnancy has been wonderful. Besides the heartburn all day everyday but I can't complain. Came in today for my scheduled C section. They out me in Triage and started me on the monitoring of baby's heart rate and started the IV. We waited for the doctor to arrive and we got the spinal done. Was super scared but after they numbed me which really burned I didn't feel the needle. The IV was way worse. They sent my husband in shortly after doing the spinal. I started to get numb and tingly all the way down to my toes. My legs and body felt very heavy. My husband was very nervous I could tell because he was trying to keep calm and was singing to me and talking about football and buying a diaper bag for me and my son. Doctor had told me I had some scar tissue from the last C section so it took a few extra minutes to get the baby out. Shortly after I heard my son crying and he was brought into this world. I started crying I was so overwhelmed with emotion. They called my husband over to cut the cord and baby weighed in at 6 pounds 2 ounces and was 17 and some inches long. I kept trying to move the blue curtain over to see him but I couldn't quite reach the curtain and my arms were also kinda tingly and heavy. The doctors always said he had a big scrotum but I guess he did because y husband was very proud of his "big balls" lol! The nurse brought my son over and I was able to kiss him for a few minutes but they took him out to go do some tests on him and further examination and my husband went along with them. I finished up in the OR and was brought back to Recovery. I was pretty tired and drowsy at this point. My face started to get itchy and I was very hot. In still itchy and hot and it's been about 4 hours. Baby was sent to the NICU because he needs some oxygen to breath better. He also had a feeding tube for now. I was told the NICU doctor would let me know how long he's be there but I haven't heard yet. I'm hoping it's not long because I want my son with me! He's absolutely perfect and adorable. He's very hairy so all that heartburn payed off. Lol. Please say a prayer for a Vincent he can come out of the NICU shortly.
