They gave me a vaginal medication that lasted 12 hours and only increased me by a cm. They also have something you can take under your tongue that works in like 4 hours. They said it depends on how dilated you are to see what they give you. After 12 hours they took the vaginal thing out and started pitocin in the I.V. She finally arrived at 10:50 Friday night. I wish I would have been able to do the under the tongue on, she may have arrived sooner. Just if you don't get the epidural, go for the I.V. pain meds. They relax you so you can get rest before your baby arrives.
