Agh so car seat law changed! And I just checked it two days ago.. Threw my whole plan off now gotta figure out how Ima do this because I'm not trying to spend extra money if I don't need to just to have something for 4 months 😑 rethinking how we can do this and what's the smartest way
It says to use until they reach max weight on the booster and it says after 8 years they can sit regularly it doesn't have a weight @aphrodite2014
@ak16, yeah I meant as far as the weight to be in a booster I thought it was 110lb.. but I could be wrong.
The graco booster I found goes to 100 pounds and this 3-1 my one year old will soon have will turn into a booster seat over time so that one will be covered and I'll just need to buy a new convertible car seat once the new baby is old enough so I have plenty of time thank goodness lol @aphrodite2014
@ak16, no problem! and check to make sure I'm not sure how high booster seats go to but if you can find a seat like that that covers you so you don't have to buy a booster is great to have
yes thats correct ans just make sure you get her next seat as ome that can go from 20+ lb.. the seat i have for my step kids is from 20lb to 110 so i font have to buy another one.. its an even flo seat..as soon as she reaches 23 she has to have a new seat by law...
I just checked my daughters infant seat and it says (5 to 22lbs) so she can seat forward facing once she reaches 22-23 pounds since she is over one correct? I'm not planning on moving her until the new baby in Feb but I'm just curious because she weighs 20 pounds as of last month @aphrodite2014
@aphrodite2014, right but a ton of ppl online are making it confusing and also telling everyone they have to be two when it says OR so I don't really see a big change in the law because it's practically worded all the same
@aphrodite2014, here is what this website says and it's a bit confusing because DMV says 1 and the 20 lbs just the other day when I checked which is what I was going to do letting new baby have the infant car seat my 1 yr old currently uses, then letting my almost two year old(by the time baby is here) then have the brand new car seat my 4 yr old has and getting my 4 yr old a booster so we wouldn't spend as much and that would still follow all the rules but the confusing part about the law is it says 2 yrs OR until they meet the max requirement of the infant seat but a lot of ppl online are saying THEY HAVE TO BE 2 (including my step mom....she thinks she knows everything telling my husband don't let her change her seat)
@ak16, I found where you see it at and the stipulation is if the child's weight is over what would be allowed so if you get a standard infant carseat most say you can only use up to 20-30lb.. but if you get the transition carseat it typically says up to i think 50lb rear facing and then it's different for forward facing you should be fine with the carseats you have. I think the law was put in place because of the convertible carseats
I know it's in Texas for sure but I'm sure others will change soon if they haven't and some already have
so this law is in texas? or nation wide? I work in EMS and we usually get the scoop on new laws like this but I haven't hurd anything about it
Exactly and getting out at the store would be difficult so infant car seat searching here I come lol @california12632
Yup and you can't just take the car seat out carrying baby you have to take the baby out anywhere you go so I'll probably just buy an infant and a convertible one later on @california12632
Yeah the convertible new born ones wouldn't fit in a stroller they are too big aren't they?
They make some that are convertible for newborns and I'm having a hard time debating if I wanna buy one of those or just an infant and buy later this is throwing my whole plan off lol @california12632 my 4yr currently has a convertible one that is brand now I'm going to let my own year old use when she turns two but it won't rear face 😡 so I'm stuck needing two infant car seats for 3-4 months after the newest baby 😒
Really? Sounds like I'm gonna have buy like one of those big convertible ones after newborn one haha
They have to be rear facing until 2 now but 4 yr olds can have a booster set now without having to be 40 lbs @california12632
ahh okay then sounds good!
