i have 2 brothers with significate age gab between us. one is 8 years younger and another is 16 years younger. we have a great relationship. i think the bigger the gap the closer we are .

im going to have my child eight years after my second. as for it being diferent...because its a boy...for me it was. it was easier because my daughter questions authority a lot...she rebelled since very young. always was independant. my son isnt independant because he like the easy routes. she tends to be less inclines to do things on his own initiative. but he tends to be more organized. he shuts down emotionally when upset..which i find distressing because men around me do that..i dunno if all men do this. my daughter has elephant memory and needs to let go of past hurts..while my son forgives too easily..and i panick at the notion of him meeting a narcissist. its pretty fun all. children are diferent i think.

No problem :) glad I could help. the more you make her feel like she's helping the more she will feel involved as well like with diaper changes and baths just getting you stuff when you need it. Designating just an hour or so to color or play with her daily will help out with her feelings as well so she knows she gets u to herself still

it was rough at first since the 11 year old was so used to being the center of attention. we had to make sure we still did things with just him. we got him a gift and told him it was from the baby so their relationship would start out good. I still have to deal with my oldest not understanding why they receive diff. types of punishment so he thinks the baby gets away with alot. honestly they still find ways to play together alot despite the big gap. the oldest loves to make the baby laugh and stuff we've just had to teach him "how" to play the right way with his younger brother. sorry long post

@akelly16, How has it been with the age gap raising both of them and the adjustment?

I had a son in highschool he is now 11 and I have a 1 year old. big age gap since I had the first so young.

@babyhawkins2015, Thank you. It has been an interesting experience so far. My husbands first child and expecting 10 days after my 31st birthday. Ironic if anything. Thanks again for your reply.

@hennamama, Aloha and welcome to preggie! Congratulations on becoming a pregster! My oldest is going to be 21 in a few months, my middle is 19, my "baby" is almost 16... My advice, just keep on being a loving mom to all of them..that's it plain and simple! Happy posting!

Yes my daughter is 9 1/2 an my son just turned 8. Third baby due Sept 10th
