@landon1002, she called me in emergency one day and said to get to the hospital within one hour. My preeclampsia and high bp got really severe. It was uncalled for. I had just turned 37 weeks that day

@landon1002, pack a baby bag, you'll need hats, blankets, and going home outfit (a newborn sized outfit and 0-3 months because you won't know baby's size until they are here), and a pacifier (soothie). the hospital will provide diapers and formula (to go bottles). for you: depending on how you give birth, bring comfortable clothes you don't mind sleeping in...I'd say at least 3 changes and several pairs of big underwear or maternity underwear and a comfortable bra like a sports bra or something. some slippers, a blanket of your own, some socks, a pillow of your own, a tablet or ereader and their chargers, your phone charger, small snacks like granola bars, hair ties, travel sized shampoos and conditioners, toothbrush and tooth paste, chapstick, and lotion. if you have a C-section, after you deliver you will not be able to get out of bed for 24 hrs, but when you get up to walk around the next day they will let you put your clothes on. and depending on how baby is doing, they may not let you have them in the room...so bring something to do to keep your mind at ease that's why I mentioned a tablet or ereader. also it gets cold.

@landon1002, it's scary. I had nothing with me when they told me I couldn't leave, so it's good to know. I would keep your bag and baby bag in the car with car seat so you are prepared.

@hippiebaby89, that helps a lot!! Just hoping my mom can be here for it so just nervous with finding all this out at once.

*if. I went for a NST and they wouldn't let me leave. usually if you make it to 38 weeks and you have it for a while, they will schedule to induce you at 38 weeks. but if you have anything that isn't normal going on, like I had low amniotic fluid on top of it and they just took me at 37.

@landon1002, they don't usually schedule it with preeclampsia. it's more like you go for testing every week at the hospital and I'd they don't like what they see, they admit yoy and start the process. the string is called cervadil and it softens your cervix so that they can start you on pitocin which dilates you. they tried the cervadil with me and I was having contractions from it and my heart rate and babys heart rate went wacko while it was in for 8 hours. they came in at like 3:30 am and took it out and then told me wait for your dr to get here to give further instructions. but they already had me set up to have a c-section and they scheduled that for like 1pm the following day. the GBS they just run a few bags of antibiotics through your system before and during labor.

@adamsmaaa, ok how early did they schedule the induction. i know every doc is different but my family all out of state.

Yeh U have to be induced because it can get dangerous for mom snd baby. Chances of seizures for mom etc. They induced me overnight by putting a string inside me that softened my cervix and then the next morning started pitocin .

@hippiebaby89, @adamsmaaa @no3lastone4me is the only way to be induced? i was hoping to do everything all natural and how does the induction process work then? and does everyone normally last until 37 weeks it seems or is that pushing it? im a ftm and like been in and out of hospital past 3 days being monitored and getting iv and fluids and blood work and im just extremely exhausted but still cant sleep more then 2 hours a night

Same with me, had both with my last. Was Induced the very day they found my preclampsia (38 weeks), everything was fine. You will be ok, try not to worry.

@landon1002, you will be okay. I had GBS and hypertension induced through pregnancy but they treat it like preeclampsia, I just didn't have the protein in my urine. I gave birth at 37 weeks by c-section after they tried to induced me but I only made my bp higher. baby might be early, but all will be okay.
